Semley Station
- Deadbeats on the golden sands
It took nearly a year for order to be restored, and all of the cats to find their natural places again. Sparks, who had often gone out and roamed for days at a time without coming back, finally returned and settled down to be a housecat. The other two, far more adept at hunting, brought back live animals to keep her amused and active. I am convinced that the small black rabbit I found petrified on the kitchen floor with three cats sitting watching it was someone's pet, smuggled out of a hutch, but nobody came to claim it.

The cats finally settled down together, managing to keep out of the way of cars and trains, and featured in one of the training guides I wrote, as an example of how to turn a photo into Windows wallpaper.
